Cloud Logging for developers and CTOs

JavaScript error tracking with readable stack traces

rollbar.js in the browser and Node.js, source maps from your build, alerts in Slack.

Free tier on every product. No card.

rollbar.js
const rollbar = new Rollbar({
  accessToken: '<client token>',
  endpoint: 'https://api.syncyak.com/api/1/item/',
  captureUncaught: true,
  captureUnhandledRejections: true,
});

JavaScript error tracking is only useful when the stack trace points at your source, not a minified bundle. SyncYak Cloud Logging takes errors from rollbar.js in the browser and Node.js, applies the source maps your build uploads, and groups occurrences so you see which errors matter.

Set the endpoint in the rollbar.js config, upload source maps with the Rollbar webpack plugin, and mark deploys from CI.

How it works

Track JavaScript errors in three steps

  1. Create a project

Each project gets server and client tokens, and environments such as production and staging.

  2. Configure rollbar.js

Add the endpoint to the config or to _rollbarConfig in the snippet loader. Without it, rollbar.js keeps sending to Rollbar.

  3. Upload source maps

Use rollbar-sourcemap-webpack-plugin in your build with SyncYak’s source map endpoint.

Frontend error monitoring with source maps

Source maps are matched to the code version you report, so stack frames show your original files and lines.

  • Browser and Node.js
  • Uncaught errors and unhandled rejections
  • Code versions and deploys

Node.js error tracking on the same project

Use a server token for Node.js and a client token for the browser; both report to the same project and environments.

JavaScript error monitoring that knows your release

Report a code_version with each occurrence and upload the source maps for that version from your build, and every stack frame points at your original file and line. Mark the deploy from CI and new items show which release introduced them.

Add the signed-in user as the person, and the browser and page come with each occurrence, so you can tell whether an error hits one customer on an old browser or everyone since this morning. Slack alerts for new items and spikes keep the team in the loop without watching a dashboard.

  • code_version per release
  • Person, browser and page on each occurrence
  • Slack alerts for new items and spikes

Use cases

What JavaScript teams catch

  • Browser-only bugs

Errors that only happen in one browser.

  • Failed API calls

    Unhandled rejections from fetch.

  • Release regressions

Errors that start with a deploy.

What you get with Cloud Logging

Cloud Logging accepts the Rollbar SDKs at the same /api/1/item/ path: rollbar.js in the browser and Node.js, rollbar-php and rollbar-laravel, and the Python and Ruby SDKs. Occurrences are grouped into items, with source maps, deploys, live tail, saved views and alerts to Slack and Datadog.

Free collects 10,000 events a month with 14 days of history. Hobby is $9 a month for 100,000 events; Pro is $29 for 500,000. Past your plan, on-demand events cost $0.10 per 1,000 events, up to a cap you set.

  • Change the SDK’s endpoint; keep your access-token setup and error handling
  • Grouping, first and last seen, people affected, environments and deploys
  • Source maps uploaded with the Rollbar webpack plugin, deploys from CI
  • Slack messages for new errors and spikes, and lines for Datadog

Frequently asked questions

Something else? Write to contact@syncyak.com and a person answers.

Do source maps have to be public?

No. Upload them from your build; they do not need to be served to browsers.

Can I filter noisy browser errors?

Use rollbar.js’s own filters, and snooze items from Pro.

Does it work with the snippet loader?

Yes. Put the same endpoint in _rollbarConfig.

Is there a free plan for Cloud Logging?

Yes. Cloud Logging has a free tier with no card and no end date: 10,000 events a month, 14-day retention, rollbar sdk compatible. Paid tiers start at $9 a month, and you can move up or down at any time.

Can I use the other SyncYak products on the same account?

Yes. Email parsing, the mailbox API, CRM sync, error tracking and tunnels share one login, one team, one API key system and one bill. Each product has its own tier, so you only pay more for the one that grows.
